How it Works

Inspired by sports draft, Nonprofit Board Match explores the idea of plenty. Resources are plentiful but not always accessible. There are plenty of people looking for opportunities to serve on nonprofit boards; Community leaders, new and experienced professionals who have skills, connections, and expertise that they want to use to help the community.

There is also a wealth of organizations with board positions that they are looking to fill, including roles on committees and other opportunities to grow into board seats. The Nonprofit Board Match event provides a venue and process for connecting.

Register

Sign up to be Nonprofit or Talent. We charge a fee to cover the space rental and food. We’ll intake your information when you register.

Prepare & Learn

Talent, take some time to review the nonprofits attending the event. More organizations will sign up until the end of October, so check back for more! We’ll send out a few emails to keep everyone updated.

We’ll post information on nonprofits’ mission, needs, religious affiliation (if applicable), give/get, and board seat term.

Get There!

Attendance is important. The Nonprofit Board Match event provides a chance for organizations and individuals to mix and mingle, learn more about one another and sure up the selection process. This is a media celebrated event, and mutual matches will be announced to all attendees and the media during and after the event.

Talent: Get to know the Nonprofits ahead of time on this site, and at the event, you will have cards give to the nonprofits that interest you the most.

Nonprofits: Show the attendees who you are in your profile on this site and look for people who fit your needs. You can only select new board members from those who have submitted eligibility cards to your match box during the event.

Celebrate and Serve

The selection event is a celebration of connections and potential, don’t miss it! Following the event, Nonprofits and Talent will make arrangements to go through the organization’s standard confirmation process as specified by the bylaws of that organization. The draft is an open offer and public declaration of intent but is limited by the organizational process.

Ongoing Support

All participating nonprofits will be invited to attend a virtual facilitated discussion about board engagement on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. We’ll talk about best practices in board governance and engagement and share ideas for recruitment.

Thank you, see you soon!
