The Black Star Project was founded in 1996 with the mission to close the racial academic achievement, economic and wealth gaps in communities of color. This is done through a myriad of programs and activities including mentoring, tutoring, Saturday University and Parent University initiatives.

Board Member duties & responsibilities:
Board members are responsible for the governance of the organization. The Board is by law expected to meet at least once a year with periodic meetings throughout the year as needed. The executive director reports directly to the Board.
Board term & limits:
No term limits at this time.
Financial commitment:
Board members are not required to make a financial commitment but all of them have supported the organization financially over the years.
